Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging of isolated perfused pig hearts in a 3T clinical MR scanner

چکیده
Background An isolated perfused pig heart model has recently been proposed for the development of novel methods in standard clinical magnetic resonance (MR) scanners. The original set-up required the electrical system to be within the safe part of the MR-room, which introduced significant background noise. The purpose of the current work was to refine the system to overcome this limitation so that all electrical parts are completely outside the scanner room.

An isolated perfused pig heart model for the development, validation and translation of novel cardiovascular magnetic resonance techniques
BACKGROUND Novel cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) techniques and imaging biomarkers are often validated in small animal models or empirically in patients. Direct translation of small animal CMR protocols to humans is rarely possible, while validation in humans is often difficult, slow and occasionally not possible due to ethical considerations. The aim of this study is to overcome these ...

The aim of this study was the Modelling of current density induced by moving individual with different velocities in static magnetic field of magnetic resonance imaging. Materials and Methods: current ...
متن کاملDNA Damages on Blood Cells After Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Introduction: Along with the increased use of cardiac imaging at clinics there is increased attention to the potential risks related to the methods used like magnetic resonance (MR) and it cannot be ruled out that MR can alter DNA structure. The aim of this review is to assess the impact of routine cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) scanning on DNA damages in human T lymphocytes....
متن کاملNon-uniformity of Clinical Head, Head and Neck, and Body Coils in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Introduction Signal intensity uniformity in a magnetic resonance (MR) image indicates how well the MR imaging (MRI) system represents an object. One of the major sources of image non-uniformity in high-field MRI scanners is inhomogeneity of radio-frequency coil. The aim of this study was to investigate non-uniformity in head, head and neck, and body coils and compare the obtained results to det...
متن کاملClinical Multiparametric MR Imaging of Breast Tumors at 7 Tesla
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) of the breast is a powerful imaging tool for the characterization, diagnosis, staging, and treatment monitoring of breast cancer. Applications at clinical magnetic field strengths (≤ 3T) have been extensively described. At 7T*, substantial improvements in image quality could be provided, if technical challenges can be overcome. In this article, the authors discu...
